Vivadhanajaya

He served his country as the first governor of the Bank of Thailand, later as Minister of Finance and as the first chairman of the board of the Crown Property Bureau.

After the death of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), Queen Saovabha Phongsri sponsored him for study in England.

In 1916 he began his studies at Magdalen College, University of Cambridge and received a second class honours degree in history (B.A.)

Afterwards he continued his studies in Paris at the École Libre des Sciences Politiques for 1 more year.

In 1927 King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), in recognition of his ability, appointed him the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of the Treasury.

[4] In addition to his government role he was also appointed to the West Coast Seaboard Council, which was established to maintain and improve the economic conditions of the country's western sea board.

Even after the revolution of 1932, when all the members of the extended royal family were removed from government, the prince was able to remain in his post.

Prince Vivadhanajaya was appointed head of the Thai delegation to negotiate the ending of the status of war with the United Kingdom.

[9] On 8 May 1950 Vivadhanajaya was elevated by King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) to a higher princely rank of Phra Ong Chao in his coronation honours.

Ever since his tenure as minister of finance the prince was asked to join the board of the committee overseeing crown property in 1948.

King Bhumibol received the news of his death at the Queluz Palace, Lisbon, during a state visit to Portugal.

The king assigned his mother, Princess Srinagarindra (who was regent at the time) to preside over the funeral ceremony.
