The station was opened on 1 July 1847 by the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway.
[1] It was situated north of the Station Road level crossing near Houndean Mill, between Warkworth and the hamlet of Eastfield.
In 1951, only 1,023 tickets were sold in the year, an average of three a day.
[2] The station house still stands as a Grade II Listed Building, currently a private accommodation.
