It existed from 1931 to 1939, and from 1944 to 1960, as a county of Warsaw, that functioned as the voivodeship.
It was one of the counties of the Capital City of Warsaw, a voivodeship of the Second Polish Republic.
[1] It ceased to exist in 1939, following the Invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, and subsequent occupation of the county.
[3] From 1944 to 1945, it was within the territory under the administration of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Poland,[4] which then was replaced by the Provisional Government of National Unity.
[5] In 1947, the government had been replaced by the Polish People's Republic.
