Wartime, Saskatchewan

Wartime is an unincorporated community and former hamlet, within the Rural Municipality of Monet No.

Settlers began arriving in the area around 1909 and by the fall of 1913 construction of the CN railway had reached as far as nearby Elrose, Saskatchewan.

Preparations for the railroad bed had made it as far as Wartime by 1914 and resulted in a few buildings being built.

The outbreak of the First World War occurred at this time so the town was named Wartime.

In 1923, the Canadian Pacific Railway extended a line from Rosetown to Kyle, passing through Wartime.William Hunter "Bill" McKnight, SOM PC (born July 12, 1940 - October 4, 2019) was born in Wartime, Saskatchewan.
