On December 3, 2021, almost two weeks after the Waukesha Christmas parade attack, the principal received an email about a specific threat to students during the lunch period.

The email threat also came on the heels of the Oxford High School Shooting in Michigan.

[3] In addition to the evacuation, there was also a heavy police presence at Waukesha South High School on Thursday and Friday due to physical altercations between students.

[7] At the 2008 National Championship, Moorpark and Waukesha West achieved the two highest team scores ever recorded at any Academic Decathlon competition.

[8] Notably, Waukesha West is the only school in the United States outside of California and Texas to have ever won the USAD National competition, which it did in 2002.
