The line closed on June 15, 1931, and the trolleys were replaced by buses.

Unincorporated communities in the township include Burnstown, Chewton, Rock Point, and Park Gate.

[7][8] As of the census[9] of 2000, there were 2,328 people, 894 households, and 680 families residing in the township.

20.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The Ellwood City Area School District serves the township.
