Wegger Christian Strømmen

He joined the Norwegian Diplomatic Service in 1984, and his first post was as executive officer (1984–86) in the Legal Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before he left to serve as a junior district court judge in Norway (1986–87).

From 1998 to 2000 he served as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a part of the Bondevik's First Cabinet.

He was appointed Norway's permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva in 2005 serving until 2007, when he transferred to the Washington posting.

On 27 January 2023, he was appointed Norway's next ambassador to Finland from the date the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides.

In addition, he has been a visiting fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London from 2000.
