West Sussex Constabulary

The West Sussex Constabulary was the territorial police force responsible for policing West Sussex in southern England from 1857 to 1968.

[1] The West Sussex Constabulary was formed in 1857 and the headquarters established in Chichester in 1922.

After the war, the forces reverted in 1947 to their previous formation, except that Hove remained as part of East Sussex Constabulary.

During the post-war years a number of specialist units were created, including Criminal Investigation (CID), Drugs, Special Branch, Policewomen, Firearms, etc.
