William Anderson (Indian Army officer, born 1880)

The son of John Faulkner Henniker Anderson, he was born in British India at Rawalpindi in April 1880.

[1] By 1903, he had been transferred to the British Indian Army and in June of that year he was promoted to lieutenant, antedated to August 1900.

[2] He was promoted to captain in August 1908, at which point he was serving in the 33rd Queen Victoria's Own Light Cavalry.

[8] Following the war, he held the temporary rank of lieutenant colonel while holding a director of remounts in February 1919.

[9] He was promoted to colonel in April 1924,[10] while the following year he made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1925 Birthday Honours.
