Rose (September 8, 1898 – June 9, 1954) was an American military officer who served as Adjutant General of Massachusetts and was commander of the 26th Infantry Division.
He also oversaw many Works Progress Administration activities, including the construction of a new Guard facility on Cape Cod.
[4] Outside of the Guard, Rose was the business manager of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and purchasing agent for the City of Boston.
Command of the task force passed to Major General Alexander Patch when it arrived in Naval Base Noumea in New Caledonia and Rose was assigned to defend the islands of Effate and Espiritu Santo.
He retired with the rank of Major General on September 8, 1951, due to a state law that required separation after five years as a division commander.
[1] Rose died on June 9, 1954, at Quigley Memorial Hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and was buried in St. John's Cemetery in Worcester.
