William James McAvoy (October 16, 1884 – September 17, 1956) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach.
A native of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, McAvoy attended Lafayette College, where he played football as a fullback and baseball as a left fielder.
In the fall of 1906, he was elected captain of the 1907 Lafayette football team, but did not return to school the following year, instead going into business.
