Banks Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Unincorporated communities in the township include Cottage Grove, Fayette, Mayville, and Neshannock Falls.

As of the census[8] of 2000, there were 2,760 people, 949 households, and 755 families residing in the township.

18.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The Wilmington Area School District serves the township.
