7 School, also known as the O'Meara Schoolhouse, is an historic structure located in rural Clinton County, Iowa, United States near the town of Delmar.
The township's first school was a log structure built in 1859 in the town of Bloomfield, which became Delmar in 1871.
Wilson #7 was built in the early 1880s on land owned by James and Ellen O'Meara, and is the only school building that remains of the original nine.
Consolidation of rural schools began during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt who established the National Commission on Country Life in 1908 to find solutions to rural problems, including education.
A raised platform of 10 inches (25 cm) on the west side extends about 9 feet (2.7 m) into the room.
The door on the south wall opened unto a porch that is no longer extant.
[2] The frame structures were located on the west side of the property, approximately 20 feet (6.1 m) from the school.
