Winthrop (CDP), Maine

The CDP includes rural land surrounding the village, extending east to the shore of Upper Narrows Pond, south down Annabessacook Lake to the inlet of Hoyt Brook, north up Maranacook Lake to the Readfield town line, and west along Hoyt Brook and Maine State Route 41.

Route 41 leads north 6 miles (10 km) to the center of Readfield, while Route 133 leads northwest 17 miles (27 km) to Livermore Falls.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 2,893 people, 1,188 households, and 780 families residing in the CDP.

There were 1,344 housing units at an average density of 241.9 per square mile (93.4/km2).

28.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
