The longtime chairman of the Congress was historian Paul Robert Magocsi, who now holds the title of Honorary President.
[1][2]International activities of WCR are focused on two main issues:[8] Various congressional committees were also formed, dealing specifically with questions related to minority rights and cultural issues (religion, education, language).
WCR bodies were not consulted by a group of linguists (including Aleksandr Dulichenko) who decided (in April 2019) to support a proposal that was addressed to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), requesting suppression of the ISO 639-3 code for Rusyn language (rue) and its division into two distinctive and separate languages.
[9] In July 2019, various questions related to Rusyn language were discussed at the 15th plenary meeting of WCR that was held in Kamienka (Slovakia), focusing mainly on its former (2012) and current (after 2014) status in Ukraine.
[11] The latest (17th) biannual meeting of WCR was held between the 17 and 19 August 2023 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
