1834 United States elections

Elections occurred in the middle of Democratic President Andrew Jackson's second term.

Members of the 24th United States Congress were chosen in this election.

During this election, the antiJackson faction began to transition into the Whig Party.

In the House, the anti-Jackson faction picked up some seats from the Anti-Masonic Party, but the Democrats retained a commanding majority.

[4] In the Senate, the Democrats picked up a moderate number of seats, but the Anti-Jacksonian faction maintained narrow control of the chamber.
