1961 Los Angeles State Diablos football team

The 1961 Los Angeles State Diablos football team was an American football team that represented Los Angeles State College (now known as California State University, Los Angeles) as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the 1961 college football season.

In their 11th year head coach Leonard Adams, the Diablos compiled a 4–4–1 record (2–2–1 in conference games), tied for third place in the CCAA, and were outscored by a total of 189 to 186.

[1] Quarterback Tom Kennedy completed 70 of 155 passes for 1,037 yards with six touchdowns and eight interceptions.

[1] Halfback Joe Womack led the team in rushing with 668 yards on 120 carries.

[1] End Dick Carey, guard Doug Brown, and halfback Joe Womack were selected as first-team players on the 1961 All-CCAA football team.
