1967 European Cup Winners' Cup final

Rangers began their campaign by defeating Glentoran 5-1 on aggregate and were then drawn to play the defending champions Borussia Dortmund in the second round.

In the quarter-final Rangers defeated Zaragoza from Spain on the toss of a coin after the tie was drawn 2-2 after both legs and extra time had been played.

Munich won 2-1 after extra time against Rapid Wien in the quarter-final before winning the semi-final against Standard liege 5-1 on aggregate to reach the final in Nuremberg.

Bayern Munich's team contained arguably some of the best German footballers of all time including Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller.

[1] Roger Hynd who was traditionally a central defender played as a striker for Rangers and had a goal disallowed during the 90 minutes.

Bayern scored the only goal of the game when Franz Roth took advantage of hesitancy in the Rangers defence and lobbed Norrie Martin.

The final was held in the Städtisches Stadion , Nuremberg
