The 1989 Texas Southern Tigers football team represented Texas Southern University as a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) during the 1989 NCAA Division I-AA football season.
Led by first-year head coach Wally Highsmith, the Tigers compiled an overall record of 3–7–1, with a mark of 3–3–1 in conference play, and finished fifth in the SWAC.
