[1] The Heat had the tenth overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft, and selected Kurt Thomas out of Texas Christian University.

[7][8][9][10] On the first day of the regular season, which began on November 3, 1995, the team acquired All-Star center Alonzo Mourning from the Charlotte Hornets.

500 for the remainder of the season, and finished in third place in the Atlantic Division with a 42–40 record, which was good enough for the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference.

[43][44] In the Eastern Conference First Round of the playoffs, the Heat lost in three straight games to the Bulls, who were led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.
