The men's event was held at the Queen's Club in London between November 16–26, 1996 and was organised by the Tennis and Rackets Association.

Gooding split with his long-term partner Chris Bray for the doubles, pairing up with Deuchar instead.
Gooding and Deuchar lost to Bray and Australian amateur Mike Happell in the doubles final, with three of the four sets ending 6/5.
The women's singles draw was won by Penny Lumley for the second consecutive year, and fifth overall.
