Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman (died) Pakatan Rakyat (PAS) Mohd Salleh Man Pakatan Rakyat (PAS) A by-election was held on 25 August 2009 for the Penang State Legislative Assembly seat of Permatang Pasir.

[1] The seat fell vacant after the death of the incumbent assemblyman, Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman.

[2] Mohd Salleh Man got 9,618 votes, beating Rohaizat Othman who got 5,067 votes.
