James Thompson missed the session due to steering issues on his Lada Granta while Chilton had a big crash at the Solitude Esses.
MacDowall was the leading independent driver while Tom Coronel finished tenth to take pole for race two, where he would share the front row with Thompson.
[12] Huff led the final warm-up session in the WTCC on Sunday morning, Pepe Oriola was second fastest ahead of pole sitter Muller.
