2018 Miami Marlins season

This year marked the first season under the new ownership group led by Derek Jeter and Bruce Sherman.

On October 2, 2017, following the conclusion of the 2017 season, the Marlins were officially sold to a group led by Derek Jeter and Bruce Sherman for $1.2 billion.

On Dec. 7, 2017, the Marlins traded Dee Gordon and $1 million in international slot money to the Seattle Mariners for 3 minor leaguers.

[4] Two days later, the Marlins traded Giancarlo Stanton and $30 million in contract relief to the New York Yankees for Starlin Castro and two minor leaguers.

[6] On August 15, 2018 starting pitcher Jose Ureña intentionally hit Ronald Acuña with a 98 MPH fastball on the elbow resulting to an ejection and controversy of the situation with the benches clearing.
