The 2018 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held at the Edel-optics.de Arena in Hamburg, Germany, from 16 to 26 August 2018.

This was the best ever performance at a wheelchair basketball world championship by both the British men's and women's teams.

The former had never won an official championship before (they had claimed the 1973 unofficial title), and the latter had never made the finals.

[4] When the incident was reported to the Tournament Technical Committee (TTC), it immediately issued a one-match suspension.

However, the TTC felt that this penalty was inadequate, and referred the matter to the Secretary General of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Maureen Orchard, who suspended the coach from the tournament.
