The 2022 European Athletics Championships were the 25th edition of the European Athletics Championships and were held in Munich, Germany, from 15 to 21 August 2022.

[1] They were part of the European Championships, a multi-sport tournament which brings together the existing European Championships of some of the continent's sports.

[5] Entry standards and conditions were published in August 2021.

[6] For the entry standards and for the rankings, the valid qualification period was: 1495 athletes, 713 females and 782 males, from 48 countries, including the Athlete Refugee Team, are expected to participate.

[8] As a result of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, athletes from Russia and Belarus are banned from competing at the 2022 European Championships.
