The race finished with a controversial safety car period and was won by Max Verstappen, with Charles Leclerc and George Russell taking second and third place respectively.

The race also featured the debut of Nyck de Vries, who scored points with a ninth place driving for Williams.

A minute's silence was held before the first practice session on Friday, and the race on Sunday in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died on 8 September 2022.

Sergio Pérez came to the pit earlier on lap 10 for hard tyres and rejoined the track with an ongoing brake fire, which later extinguished itself.
