They were led by third-year head coach Greg Goff.

On February 26, 2022, concluding series sweeps against Princeton and South Dakota State, the Boilermakers opened 8-0, their best start since 1909.

Following the season, assistant coach Cooper Fouts left the Boilermakers for an assistant coaching position with Louisiana Tech.
