2023 World Athletics Championships – Women's discus throw

In the first round of the finals Olympic Champion Valarie Allman got off a 68.57m to take the early lead.

On her newly earned fifth throw, she threw the winner 69.49 m (227 ft 11 in), a four metre (13 feet) improvement in her personal best over the course of three rounds.

van Klinken's fifth round throw of 67.20m edged her back into third place.

Bin improved to 68.20m on her final attempt to move back into third place.

Allman was unable to improve, so on a breakthrough night, the surprised and ecstatic Tausaga was able to step into the ring for her final attempt already confirmed as the champion.
