On June 3, Atlanta United parted ways with head coach Gonzalo Pineda, after starting the season winning just 4 of their first 16 league matches, with the club standing in 13th place in the Eastern Conference.

It was also announced that Rob Valentino would immediately step in as the interim head coach until a new one is hired.

Atlanta United entered the tournament in the Round of 32.
