29th Texas Cavalry Regiment

Newspaper publisher Charles DeMorse formed the regiment at Clarksville, Texas, in July 1862 and became its colonel.

[1] In October 1863, Richard Montgomery Gano assumed command of the brigade, which was troubled by poor morale and desertions.

In early 1865, the unit was dismounted and added to an infantry division known as Walker's Greyhounds.

The division was ordered to march to Hempstead, Texas, where it arrived in April 1865 and disbanded soon afterward.
