33 Whitecross Street, Monmouth

33 Whitecross Street is a grade II listed building in Monmouth, Wales in the area of St James Square.

"There are some lovely spots in the town centre, none prettier than St James's Square, with its old war memorial in the shadow of a romantic-looking tree."

[5] The Catalpa, considered to be "one of the best examples of the species in Britain," became the focus of controversy in 2005 when the Monmouthshire County Council condemned the tree.

The team of archaeologists that conducted the excavation included Stephen Clarke, Jane Bray, Dave Hancocks, and Colin Harris.

[8] The following year, in November 2010, the BBC News reported that a team of local archaeologists had discovered Mesolithic artefacts at St James Square and Wyebridge Street.
