Abu Ahsan Mohammad Shamsul Arefin Siddique (born 26 October 1953)[1] is a Bangladeshi academic who served as the 27th vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka during 2009–2017.
He annexed his Master's in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka and topped the list in his batch.
He earned his Ph.D degree in televised teaching in 1985 from the University of Mysore in India under Indian Government scholarship.
Dr. Siddique served as a visiting fellow at the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA.
He was decorated with the 'Order of the Civil Merit' by his excellency the King of Spain for his extraordinary contribution to the expansion of education, women empowerment, and poverty reduction.
