American Film Institute Awards

Unlike other accolades about the art form, the AFI Awards acknowledge the film and television productions deemed culturally and artistically representative of the year's most significant achievements in the art of the moving image in American cinema.

The nominations were announced on December 17, 2001, and the ceremony was broadcast on January 5, 2002, on CBS.

The ceremony was scheduled to be held on January 7, 2022, but was postponed to March 11, 2022, due to COVID-19.
