[3] Gross received his BA in Philosophy from Grinnell College, his M.T.S from Harvard Divinity School, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Religious Studies.

Author Jonathan Safran Foer described Gross as “a visionary - his founding of Farm Forward will be looked at by future generations as a turning point in the fight to end factory farming.”[4] Gross has been particularly active in efforts to improve kosher slaughter.
