Abejones (Spanish: meaning "beetles", from abejón) is a town and municipality in Oaxaca in south-western Mexico.
It is part of the Ixtlán District in the Sierra Norte de Oaxaca region.
This area has a very uneven terrain and there is no hectare that is a complete level in the whole municipality.
It is quite a dry region but the cold weather helps some fruit trees and forests.
The municipality is then called "Abejones" because of the quantity of bees (abejas) existing in the zone.
