The organisation has offices in Alice Springs and Darwin, but provides medical care throughout the entire Northern Territory.
AMSANT also lobbied the government to increase funding to Aboriginal Comprehensive Primary Health Care in the context of the Northern Territory Emergency Response (the "Intervention").
As a peak body, AMSANT assists its member services through lobbying for improvements in the health status of Aboriginal people, promoting Aboriginal self-determination and community control and representing its member services in meetings and negotiations.
Its focus is supporting its members and assisting them to provide high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.
[citation needed] All of the AMSANT member services attend general meetings which are held at least once every four months.
