Acton, California

Acton (pronunciationⓘ) is an Unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, near the Antelope Valley.

Acton has a Metrolink commuter rail station on its border with Palmdale that is themed in an "old western" style and has been seen in various movies and commercials.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 39.3 square miles (102 km2), over 99% of it land.

Mount Gleason, one of the peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains, is located 7 miles (11 km) south of Acton and can be seen in the town or by passersby on the 14.

This region experiences warm (but not very hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6 °F (22.0 °C).

Just 1% of Acton households use some form of public assistance, compared to the United States average of 14%.

The Shambala Preserve, a wild animal nature park run by actress Tippi Hedren, is located near Acton.
