Dodge served in the United States military in the South Pacific during World War II.
[2] While in school he briefly worked as a Navajo language consultant to Reichard.
[2] During World War II, he served for 4 years in the South Pacific as a Navajo code talker.
[3] He was injured during his military service and while he was recuperating he started documenting Navajo culture in drawings and paintings, such as ceremonial songs and religious traditions.
[6][7] In the 1950s, he also explored uranium mining and founded Adee Dodge Enterprises, Inc.[2] He died on January 4, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
