Hamilton attended David W. Carter High School, where he played both at linebacker and defensive end.
In 2008, he enrolled at Dallas County Community College to improve his academic grades, although he didn't play football.

Hamilton was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after the 2012 NFL draft on April 29.
On August 25, in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams, Hamilton had a sack on Kellen Clemens.

On September 8, 2015, he was signed to the practice roster of the Ottawa RedBlacks in the Canadian Football League.
