Scheduled to open in July 2025, the arena will be a replacement for the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, which was built in 1964.
[3] A section of Meijō Park north of the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium was chosen to build the new arena.
[3] Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma,[4] Aichi International Arena will have a maximum seating capacity of 15,000.
[1][5] The arena will also host the annual grand sumo tournament that takes place in Nagoya every July.
[6] In February 2024 it was announced that British financial company IG Group would have naming rights for the Aichi International Arena for ten years.
