Akhty (Russian: Ахты́; Lezgian: Ахцагь) is a rural locality (selo) and the administrative center of Akhtynsky District of the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, located in the south of the republic at the confluence of the Akhtychay and Samur Rivers, 254 kilometers (158 mi) from Makhachkala.
After the collapse of Caucasian Albania in the 5th century CE, the area of leks appeared Lakzi feudal state, of which entered Akhty too.
In 1848, the fortress played an important role in defense against the attacking Shamil troops.
The spa has three different types of mineral water: hydrogen sulfide, radon, and iodine-bromine.
