Albert L. Bartlett

Albert Leroy Bartlett (1851–1934) was an American government official who held numerous positions in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

His father was a farmer and his ancestors included John Winthrop, Thomas Dudley, and Joseph Cilley.

He was removed from the position on June 2, 1897, when, after four years of trying, the anti-Bartlett faction on the school committee gained enough votes to prevent his reappointment.

[5] In March 1916, Bartlett refused to grant Dr. Thomas E. Leyden a permit to use City Hall for a lecture which was seen as anti-Catholic.

On April 3, roughly 10,000 people took to the city streets, resulting in a riot that required the deployment of the state militia.
