Albert R. Howe

Albert Richards Howe (January 1, 1840 – June 1, 1884) was an American businessman, Civil War veteran and politician.

[2] In 1861, he enlisted as a private in the Union Army and served in the Forty-seventh Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

After Lee's surrender, he served under General Weitzel in Texas until his discharged on November 30, 1865.

[4] After his military service, he moved to Como, Mississippi and became involved in cotton planting.

After leaving Congress, he moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked in the brokerage business.
