He was one of the youngest soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) who died on active duty.

Albinot and Albesian both enlisted on 23 Mars 1998 in Junik in the operational zone of Dukagjin of the KLA under commander Nimon Tofaj.

[2] On the late hours of 27 February 1999 as he was leaving from his village Osek i Pashës for Gjakova he was killed in an ambush operation by the Serbian police.

[2] Mataj is one of the youngest fallen fighters of the KLA who died against the state of Serbia in the Kosovo War for the independence of the region.
