Alejandro Landes Echavarría (born in 1980, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Colombian-Ecuadorian film director, producer, screenwriter, and journalist.
He is mainly known for directing Spanish-language films such as Porfirio, a Colombian drama that was based on a true story,[1] and the documentary Cocalero about Evo Morales's successful presidential campaign in Bolivia.
Landes Echavarría was born in São Paulo, Brazil to a Colombian mother and Ecuadorian father.
[2] Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Landes Echavarría worked as an assistant producer for Oppenheimer Presenta, a weekly news broadcast show.
His second feature, Porfirio, premiered in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
