Alena Kánová

Alena Kánová was born on 29 March 1980 in Liptovský Mikuláš, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia).

At the age of 14, she was paralysed following a road accident and has been confined to a wheelchair since.

After the accident, she attended the Slovakian National Rehabilitation Center for a year, before returning to school.

[3] Kánová competed in her first Summer Paralympics at the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia, where she won the gold medal in the individual class 3 tournament.
