Alexander Mitchell Donnet

Alexander Mitchell Donnet, Baron Donnet of Balgay (26 June 1916 – 14 May 1985) was a Scottish trade unionist.

Donnet grew up in Dundee, where he attended the Harris Academy.

[1] Donnet became active in the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), and was elected as its president for 1970/71.

In 1972, he was for the first time elected to the General Council of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), serving for four years.

[1] In 1978, Donnet retired from his trade union posts and received a life peerage being created Baron Donnet of Balgay, of Balgay in the District of the City of Dundee on 19 May 1978.
