Alfonso Fernández-Canteli

[1][2] Alfonso Fernández-Canteli is graduated in mechanical engineering at the University of the Basque Country, Spain (1970).

Between 1970 and 1972, he obtained the Master Science in Civil Engineering at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland).

In 1981, he completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid (Spain).

[3] He is known for his work on probabilistic fatigue modeling of materials and structural components using stress-life and strain-life methods.

In 2001, Alfonso Fernández-Canteli and Enrique Castillo presented a particular form of a probabilistic model for materials under fatigue which embodies Weibull features and the size effect in a weakest-link framework.
