Alice Lorraine Daly

Alice Lorraine Daly (February 11, 1883 – October 16, 1945) was an American educator, suffragist, politician, labor activist, and pacifist in South Dakota.

In 1916, she became president of the Lake County Universal Franchise League; she began touring the state giving speeches for the suffrage cause.

[1] Daly was the South Dakota chair of the Woman's Peace Party, and represented the state at the International Congress of Women, convened at The Hague in 1915.

[5] In 1922, she ran for governor of South Dakota, as the candidate of the Nonpartisan League, under the slogan "Good Housekeeping in Government.

"[10] The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers endorsed her, telling its members that Daly "is the only candidate who is really the people's friend.
